I got downvoted one time by the same reason, but getting back to the subject, I really like the feedback guys receive when "asking HN", the community is always there to help who needs, I can't see this bad environment here (maybe few guys with bad sense of humor).
Sometimes, humor is not rewarded here. Even if during the process it is making a point.
I've met quite a few hackers/cs guys who take themselves WAY too seriously. Maybe that's why they don't have girlfriends.
Sometimes it feels like the vibe here can lean towards "I'm a super serious hacker who knows his/her shit and I'm going to be a millionaire with my start up, so I'm going to ignore the SPIRIT of your post and pick it apart like a trekkie at a convention."
In the end, we all need to just get over ourselves.
In what spirit should calling someone a 'twit' be taken? Should we pretend that it's an insightful social commentary? Or accept that it's a cheap attempt at humor based in disrespect for others?
Theres an important difference between being a sarcastic jerk at someone else's expense and pointing out the irony in situations that results in humor.
Its been my experience that either type of humor isn't tolerated here very well.
My only suggestion is change how the price grows, you can add a few cents or dollars each extra user, because if I have 50 users I won't pay some more dollars to add the 51th.
Another suggestion is to reduce the price per extra user as it will growing like, the first 20 users costs 0,50 cents each the next 20 costs 35 cents each, this kind of thing.
It's just a suggestion, but the site is really very appealing to the eyes and the application looks like very intuitive.
Honestly, the startup I work for got into the Managing Subscriptions business with their product and it has its own bag of hassles. If I add a seat in the middle of the month, do you bill immediately and prorate it, or wait until the next billing cycle? And if you do bill immediately, what if I delete a user and then add two more, do you bill me (prorated) for the two users, or only the one extra "seat"?
I'm not saying that you shouldn't go that route, just that sometimes more straightforward is better, sometimes knowing that I have the Deluxe account and if I want to add the Downtown office I'll have to upgrade to the Premium account makes it easier to understand. shrug.
Well, we discovered that there is no immortal here, since nobody attempted multiple times and answered the pool.
Men! Why suicide? It can always get better, is just a matter of try, multiple times, one day you will have success and thinks how dumb you was thinking in take your life.
You mentioned "Data is stored on your local computer so your history remains private" what about giving the possibility to upload to the web, then I can get my browser history whenever I am. Maybe a possibility to merge browser histories would be cool also ;)
That's something we're definitely considering. One idea that we've been noodling on is to add a downloadable app that managed all your storage and had a simple http rest api. Then in the extension, you could optionally point to that instead of the internal storage mechanism.
That would provide some internal benefits of being able to use a beefier storage backend decoupled from the browser. Users then could run the app locally on their computer, or on their own server somewhere, or potentially as part of a cloud storage service.
He can make some guest post in Mixergy :D, it will add some value to mixergy and definitely promote his blog/site/project/ebook/<whatever he is thinking here>. Of course Andrew that will choose if it's possible or not, but Andrew rulez and everybody knows that ;)
Instead of blocking the search you should let the search happens and show in some place, please create a user for have access to the features X, Y and Z, but stopping the user when they click in "run voltmeter" doesn't do a good impression.
