With an expansive Russia next door it's hard to forego effective defense measures.

I'm in Finland and I would have forgone this measure. It is not a critical, or even an important, part of the defence strategy.

Doxxing a hostile act.

If it's negative depends on if you think they deserve the hostility.

Most people who dox for a reason they think is justified will nonetheless reject the label of doxing for what they did. They'll say "I didn't dox him, I just discovered publicly available but obscure information about him and posted it."

I'm very excited about the later steps of the Artemis project!

Landing on the Moon South Pole and start setting up the lunar station there will be a huge step, especially after 50 years of nothing!!

But this flight has already been done without a crew. Doing it with a human crew is important, but it achieves nothing new and exciting.

> it achieves nothing new and exciting

I thought this but have since changed my mind. On board, real humans tax life-support systems in a way that’s difficult to simulate. And real human astronauts garble processes and communications with ground control in ways that a nation that hasn’t done deep spaceflight in a generation could probably do with practice on.

I half agree. It is new and important.

But it's hard, at least for me personally, to get really excited about it...

I thought the various space stations were there to develop & test life-support systems long term?

> thought the various space stations were there to develop & test life-support systems long term?

I thought ducks were a preparation of chicken until my early teens. I was wrong.

We have never flown this deep-space life-support system on the ISS together. In parts, yes. But that doesn’t substitute for a real mission. As for simulations, how would you rate your experience from a role play versus the real deal?

Closed-loop water cooling systems are common and use very little water, despite what you may hear from alarmists.

Moonlight is reflected sunlight.

That's obvious. But the moon is so perfectly neutral gray that the reflected light is essentially the same color as the incident sunlight.

Reminds me of one of the best new comedy series in years, Very Important People, doing improvised spoof interviews:

2 of your 3 pieces of evidence are your guesses ("I bet", "I assume").

That tells us more about you than about tech CEOs.

Starlink is incredibly profitable though.

It's not like they're subsidizing some experimental internal project. Starlink is the majority of their profits and growing fast.

The stated goal for Grok is to be as truthful as possible.

Maybe that shows up as being more right leaning than the competition.

stated goal ≠ output

see: democratic people's republic of korea, the chinese communist party, american first

Grok and Elon's ventures in general should really get the Purpose of a System treatement in public discourse. For all we know the purpose of Grok is to make nude edits of people. You can assign this to left or right leaning as you please.

The obligatory "Elon is a poophead!" responses anytime you mention Elon without criticizing him is my least favorite thing about this forum.

He is a literally walking felony who in an era with an effective regulatory system would be at minimum barred from running public companies.

If you’re not one of the nerds stuck in 2014, and still enthralled with the Elon reality field and the Mars grift, taxi grift, robot laundry grift, etc, it’s pretty obvious.

Grok is of course also trained on the same giant blob of "all human writing" that the other models are trained on.

I don't think I would be bored in this trip!
