Pretty sure one of their phones are hacked... They like to be mobile. SCIF would be counterproductive. After Hillary and this, I think they really need to invest more into a secure mobile comm program...
If history has taught us anything (Hillary), that's just wishful thinking from people without power and political rivals. On rational side, most likely one of their phones got hacked which caused this leak. They are high profile targets after all. At their level, exactly what's the SOPs they must follow otherwise gonna get fired? They may push for policies downstream, but policies that govern them? They can just argue for precedence (Hillary) and nothing gonna come of this.
It was my understanding that after extensive investigation there was found to be no classified material shared on that server - which checks out since emailing classified information is pretty uncommon outside of SIPRNET and the like
I don't know how they would classify gossips, opinions, deals made by a Secretary of State with or regarding the heads of foreign nations. I'm sure it's an "extensive" investigation. Haha. Democrats probably just want to sweep it under the rug, and Republicans want to use it for favors/card in this situation.
This specific desire to not do unnecessary legwork, and lean on the assumptions we already hold, are the teeth of the termites that tear through society and lead to polarization.
It’s not a criticism - I couldn’t be less inclined to go through the actual searches to verify this either way.
This is just the failure state that happens an infinite number of times online every day, across the world.
At some point, the conversations start demanding a level of work that’s beyond what we are willing to put in. I can’t see any real solution for it. (Unless there’s some GAI magic wand for this.)
"National defense" as defense of nation's interests. Politicians can phrase it however they like. Pay is meh, benefits are pretty good if you locked into 0.4% FERS deduction prior 2013, that's like 16% annualized compounding... health insurance is getting less and less attractive by the year. Salary growth is also slow and next few years probably gonna be a big fat zero and eaten alive by inflation. Like OP said, it does feel like turning into a rock solid pillar and getting forgotten.
I was scammed out of about $4 when I was kid playing Ragnarök Online. Taught me zero trust. In hindsight, it's a cheap but effective learning experience... well, until I met my now ex-wife.
Probably a heating element to reheat the coffee or tea. I have recently considered need something like a reheating lunchbox so I don't have to use the office microwave which is always gross. I just carry a huge Zojirushi insulted water bottle for my hot water need. I don't want to lose any water capacity...
I mean yeah but if you clean it, they won't think that. And if you mention you cleaned it, they'd be more inclined to do it in the future.
And, worse case scenario, you spend like 5 minutes occasionally doing it and now have access to a clean microwave, without needing to buy more e-waste and encouraging the production of cheap, stupid things like a water bottle with a heater in it.
When I got this job years ago, this microwave is beyond cleanable... I think everyone is just avoiding it at this point and go across the building to use a different microwave, which is also pretty gross tbh. I thought about cleaning it, but then again I don't wanna, you know, die.
I'm very much a "fix it yourself" kinda person but I might yell at you if you said this to me. Why? Because I'm cleaning up after you. Why don't YOU clean YOUR mess? Maybe it's one person creating most of the mess (Pareto is a bitch), make them do it. Or we pay cleaning staff, pay them more to do it, I'm sure it's less than you're paying me to do it. It's probably cheaper to buy a new microwave every month than pay me to clean it lol
You pass responsibility to someone who isn't responsible. You don't recognize this function repeats and people become over burdened. Sure "It's not a big deal" but that's in isolation. That's one time, one task. These things don't just add up, they compound
I'm not refuting Musk probably hate them like all other regulators or might take advantage of getting into like FAA's operation. It's been obvious on both sides of the aisle. Is USAID corrupt? I think so, foreign money is the most difficult to track. Is FAA technology and management sucks? I believe that, too. Many things can be true at the same time. Since no body can fix it before Musk got his butt in started farting, why are people not benefiting from the kickbacks or inefficiencies complaining is beyond me.
You should have lived long enough to know a person can be a good father to his kids and still murder innocent people. Both things can be true. If a person doing these good things while made $30 million in 3 years on $200k salary, I can reasonably assume some serious corruption is going on.
Keep believing those baseless conspiracy theories. [0]
>"U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, ..."
>"Nichols noted that despite Trump’s claim of massive “corruption and fraud” in the agency, government lawyers had no support for that argument in court."
Meanwhile, the reality of the situation is simply tragic. [1]
"USAid money is spent supporting independent journalism" is an oxymoron. When a state sponsors something journalistic, it's called propaganda... not independent. Not saying they are not heroic doing this work, this money shouldn't come from US. If they can't keep the effort alive organically, they should get help from donations. These US congressmen for God sake need to keep their hands in their own wallets, not taxpayers.
Not sure what's your point on the Politico article. It is tragic that disrupt a lot of people's lives. Like I said, it doesn't mean there's no corruption, only good is happening. Both things can be true at the same time. This thing can be tragic, Congress might get their shit together - hopefully.
You mean Peter Principled into another department...? Sorry, just joking. It's terrible and unfair to fire people like this. They are removing the low hanging fruits first.
Dude, what is wrong with you? Tens of thousands of real, human people trying to support tens of thousands of real, human families. That's what your joke is about.
I got one transition lens RayBan Meta glasses. It's pretty useful to free up my hands when shooting a video of my kid playing. I also like it can replace ear plugs if you don't care about premium sound quality. The only downside is a tad bit too heavy...
So if the data field for DoB is missing. It revert to use year 1875. "The figures suggested that over 10 millions people aged over 120 were collecting benefits." So what about like age 120? Anyone has experience with this issue? Just curious.
I forget where, but some person said Social Security began in 1940. As eligibility for payouts begins at age 65, a DOB in 1875 would have been the earliest valid one. Even fairly recently, quite a few people didn’t know the exact date they were born and in the 40s bureaucrats might have been more inclined to cut them some slack.
From what I read, in case of missing DoB, they might not use DoB as the qualifier. But then they have a policy to reverify at age 115 or something and every 7 years after that. But to say there are millions of people run into this nuance is still weird to me.
