For the end user? No. For the self-hoster making the decision on whether or not to pick this solution? Yes.

The same goes with "Easy Installation". The end user doesn't care if the install or easy or hard.

You have to consider the dependencies, resource requirements, and manageability of anything you host.

Or just containerize and don't think about that :)

Containers can be just as much of a pain in the ass to set up as anything else. I’ve had instances of much better experiences setting up software running out of container than in container.

A lousy Dockerfile or missing docker-compose.yml will do that. Just because someone took the time to lump together a container doesn't mean it's the right one or that it would be reasonably useful to someone seeking to take advantage of the containerized software.

With self-hosting the host is often the end-user.

> An aging population leaves the country with fewer workers and more dependents.

How does a low birth rate create more dependents? If the birth rate was zero, then there would be no dependent children in 20 years. Increases in the birthrate would create more dependents in the short-medium term, but would only create more workers in the medium-long term.

Old people are dependents too, the middle age people take care of them.

Dependent elderly who have no working-age children to support them.

Not to mention Github uses feature toggling. So even users of the same team can have different versions of the UI, but almost certainly across the entire user base.

What other keyboard shortcuts are available other than hjkl? It looks not even the arrow keys work.

There are quite a few, and they're documented on the wiki[1].

If you find that there's a specific feature missing, please open an issue. All feedback is appreciated :) This is still very much a work in progress.

If you are plugged into a 4k monitor, you are probably reasonably close to a power outlet.

Theoretically, Thunderbolt is capable of being your power outlet.

Yeah but if you're powering your 4K monitor from Thunderbolt, I doubt you'd get that 12 hour battery life either :D

Wasted heat? All the wasted heat goes into the air, warming up the room.

The room being the kitchen, which is not the room you're trying to heat up as you prepare for bed.

The egress path of that heat will tend to be dissipation throughout the habitable area, modulo circulation. One factor I've noted in room heating is how much heat tends to rise toward the ceiling. A vertically-oriented fan (need not be a ceiling fan) will help achieve a good blend of temperature floor-to-ceiling.

Air flows between rooms / through doorways can also be surprisingly stubborn, but it does happen.

The specifics will depend on the size of the interior space, position of the kitchen, access to exterior walls, etc.

I use Air Display quite a bit with a LiveReload web browser or an additional terminal in the second window, and it works great. Lowering the resolution speeds up the response, but I've never experienced a 4 second lag.

According to Avatron, Apple does not allow them to use USB. [1]

>> Can Air Display connect using a USB cable...

>> No. In order for iOS apps like Air Display to access the USB connector, its developer must be part of Apple’s Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad (MFi) program. As Avatron is not a hardware shop, we are not eligible for this program and therefore cannot support USB.

However, Jailbreaking the iPad is a workaround since you can create a USB private network for Air Display to connect. [2]

I'm sad there is no backlight option available like the WASD Code Keyboard.

How I've been doing it for years:

https://github.com/feross/SpoofMAC

> spoof-mac randomize en0

Feross has also done a node.js version: https://github.com/feross/spoof

i like how spoof-mac has the reset option too!

  spoof-mac reset en0

This solution looks way more elegant to me, thx for the link
