Use in anxiety disorders is not really a new phenomenon. It's a non-selective beta blocker that's been used in performance anxiety for decades. I have to give a talk in 6 months and I'm going to prescribe myself propranolol so I can give the talk without feeling adrenergic sympathetic activation/fight or flight. So if I can't feel a sympathetic response centrally or peripherally, I'm going to have minimal performance anxiety and therefore no fearful memories of the event. Hopefully it goes smoothly. I would hate to be calm and give a pathetic shitshow of a talk and then not feel bad about it later..

Not really, if you don't have money you likely don't have insurance and you are moved to hospice care. Maybe you can get a round of palliative chemo when tumor burden is high enough to cause symptoms (shortness of breath, gastric outlet obstruction, liver dysfunction, etc). So it's less of a financial devastation and more of a life ending diagnosis.

If you have money and insurance then a hospital and insurance company will gladly work together to take what money you do have. Sort of like a chicken wishbone.

That was a giant logical leep pretty early in, I had to stop reading. He says his father was in the military which allows him to claim some kind of inherited expertise. That's not how it works. Making sweeping generalizations about uniform of the day when he isn't even familiar with that term is absurd. Tangential pathologic mental processes are going on here.

None of their samples contained micrometeorites, that must have been really frustrating.

He said they lost a cool looking one during transfer with a wet toothpick, they could try using micropipettes like some biology labs use.

"the US version will start at $8,950"

I don't like that price point at all. With $9k you can get a much better vehicle that has far more utility.

Anecdotally,

I bought a Huawei matebook laptop this past year. It was very cheap but looked cool - like a macbook. Funny thing though, the windows software was bootlegged and I had to use my institutional registration to get Windows software.

I used to use Amazon's market place and have now stopped after accidentally purchasing Chinese fraudulent goods (I still use for digital content).

My exposure to Chinese tech and goods, while limited, has now totally predisposed me negatively towards them. I haven't seen any innovative product personally. Just inconvenient knock off which have effectively stolen my money. If all Chinese tech goods were taken off the market, innovative or not, I would be happier knowing that I could start using a more trustworthy Amazon market place.

Did the Huawei matebook come in factory-sealed packaging, or had the wholesaler/retailer tampered with it? (A friend in China experienced a similar issue with another brand. It came with Chinese Windows from the factory, but the retailer had installed a bootleg version of English Windows.)

"If all Chinese tech goods were taken off the market" then which tech goods would be left? Are there any tech goods that include no Chinese components? What % of Chinese components is acceptable to you (assuming non-zero)?

Non-profit is just a tax structure. They make plenty of money and reward themselves handsomely.

A quick first point: you're making a blanket statement against a heterogeneous population. Some non-profits are definitely not efficient, and some are very efficient.

The big difference, and there is one, is related to ownership and operations. There are no distributable earnings, and they cannot be sold/acquired. This definitely factors into decisions balancing profitablity and ethics. There are laws about nonprofit compensation, too: https://www.guidestar.org/ViewCmsFile.aspx?ContentID=3890

I'm a physician for a non-profit and I'm going to continue making my blanket statement. But thanks for the link.

I am not a physician at a non-profit! But I had read a few years of Tenet and HCA annual reports a while back, and have a few other points of exposure to non-profit vs teaching vs private systems. Perhaps we can agree that there are many opportunities to improve the system in many ways.

Call 911 and chew (chewing it up is important) 4 tablets of 81mg baby aspirin. If you don't have baby aspirin then chew up a regular 325mg adult aspirin.

Typical chest pain is on the left side but atypical chest pain often experienced by diabetics or women can be abdominal pain, right sided chest, vague discomfort, or can be completely silent/missed. Sadly not everything behaves exactly the same.

If you're very worried, you're having symptoms, and the EKG comes back reassuring, just ask for a set of cardiac enzymes. However, ED doctors often don't want to get enzymes because it means they have to do it 3x in a row spaced 6-8 hours from each other - so it might get you an observation unit stay.

Anyways, I'm not an ED doctor but I worked in one for a month during residency and I can assure you - there are plenty of providers who are not great at interpreting EKGs. There is pretty high variability in EKG interpretation skill between them. So if someone with weak EKG sensitivity uses that test to screen you out, then that's pretty poor care.

He sounds a bit silly. Escape rooms are group events, he's not the only customer in the room. If the rest of the group wants hints (it's not fun to just be stuck on a clue) then they will give hints. One customer throwing a tantrum on Yelp afterward probably sucks though. Can't please everyone, especially not people like him.

> He sounds a bit silly.

feel free to address me directly I'm right here. Also you're right I am silly. Silly silly silly a very stupid person. I've got some incredibly silly way of looking at the world. I am the Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov of HN.

If you want to insult me please use my email from the profile and send me a message directly. But don't dress up your insults by talking about me instead of talking directly at me. thanks

EDIT: also you suggest I leave yelp or other online reviews to bully companies. I don't even have a phone. Instead I talk to the person directly whether it's a restaurant or whatever else. Even they piss me off I'd never leave a review. I am not a fucking coward. Please speak for yourself and don't put things in my mouth that I haven't done or suggested.

Are you comparing 1940's US with 2019's China?

Should you not compare 1949 China and Mao with 1940's USA and then compare 2019 US to 2019 China?
