I’m a native English speaker and I have only ever heard “affine” as a technical term in mathematics, e.g. an affine transformation of vector spaces. I would have had no idea what it means outside of math.

However, OP’s usage seems logical, so I wouldn’t be upset if it became popular!

To me this sounds so sad

Roads are important for a good transportation infrastructure. However, cities in north america are overreliant on them. In European cities public transit is also important and in my opinion even more important than roads. Cars are not useful in cities compared to public transit / bikes / walking if the city is designed for humans and not cars. ( and yes, you still need roads for delivery and people who sometimes have to transport heavy things).

There is a lot more than people to move around a city. Transit is more visible and yes europe does well there - but freight is less visible and europe isn't doing as well there.

It can be used as an energy storage by compressing / releasing + powering a turbine. Good for storing excess wind + solar energy.

Planting trees is not effective since it takes decades to capture the carbon, but the next years are crucial for determining long term climate developments.

There is no carbon capture technology on earth that can be rolled out at a scale over the next few years that can compete with planting trees. Especially not one that has just been invented in one university. Ash grows 90cm per year, that's all carbon. Scale that to millions and billions.

There are a ton of settlements with huge fines paid by all sorts of companies, but every time they "admit to no wrongdoing". So they pay but deny any responsibility. This is super common.
