I don't like him moving to Spotify. With regard to idealism I think Vimeo f.x. would have been cool. But just practically speaking - originally the show might be a podcast but I nonetheless need the video with the audio to enjoy it. Also the interviews are way too long for me to sit them through which is why I liked the JRE Clips Channel.

As far as I can tell my Firefox on Linux is as snappy as snappy gets.

Firefox is my main browser on Linux, but sometimes I browse using Chromium. Both feel equally snappy to me -- even though I have hundreds of tabs open in Firefox and several add-ons, and none on Chromium.

Well if 30k is the median in the US then even in the US a huge absolute majority does not belong to those 1%.

Talking about knobs on stoves and UX - I never understood why American stoves have the knobs on a panel at the back of the stove instead of at the front. Isn't it inconvenient having to reach over hot, frying, steaming pots and pans?

Most likely for safety reasons. They are less likely for children to play with them or people to bump into them.

But ovens with controls in the front are definitely available in the US. So you can have whatever style you want.

That's a very broad generalization, I have used dozens of stoves in my American life and the knobs are often at the front.

I agree, though, it is stupid when they are in the back. Presumedly this is just to save money by putting all the controls and displays in one place.

Yes. It is stupid but cheap, IMHO.

Still, those are better than buttons.

How is that surprising? Isn't it absolutely obvious and technically trivial? They'll manipulate it into something monochrome with sufficient contrast and feed it into their database - done.

Having said that it could just as obviously be a deceit to distract from an informant or other sources of information.

I don't want to use Google and onedrive doesn't work seamlessly on Linux and Android.

What's your issue with OneDrive on Android? It has been working perfectly for me and for everyone around me for many years. Really fast sync, tight integration with the OS, and so on.

and on Ubuntu?

can you properly use iCloud Drive on Ubuntu and Android?

I second that - I often felt like stuck in a hopeless competition against people who really have 100% of their mind to spare on aspects of technology while my brain is scattered all over the place with regard to interests and hobbies. How am I supposed to compete against somebody who'll happily spend his leisure time with even more coding while I can't wait to do something else for a change. And it is a competition because those people thrive on the positive feedback they get at work and crave for it with a vengeance.

They specifically remove the liver of sharks and ignore the rest ... they could do that with humans, too.

A great white shark's liver is huge, heavy, and oily. I'm not sure an orca could physically even accomplish the task of separating out a human liver and if it did, it sure wouldn't be satisfying.

Seems like that. Generally speaking a soft criminal will go down fast - either being caught because he didn't get rid of that witness or being whacked by some psychopath. But if you are ruthless and amass as much money and power as you can as fast as possible by any means necessary then you have a good chance of buying yourself out of any trouble you find yourself in. Also people will be more afraid of you and help you rewrite history - so you end up as some nobleman if you're lucky.
