Has anyone seen a Sales CRM implemented with a temporal+value approach? Seems quite useful for tracking movement through a funnel.


You can use a stock rdbms and still keep track of changes. Just keep a seperate "Updates" table which consists of the tuple {class, object, change-description, changed-when, changed-by}

You don't need both class and object, but I prefer to log both object type and id.


Anything that touches financial records-keeping would be ripe for this kind of software, too. I spent quite some time on a financial services system and our number one enemy was mutable state.


Most of my music is in iCloud, so it shows up in CloudPlay, but it doesn't actually play. Any way that CloudPlay can fetch songs in iCloud?


hmm.. are you using iTunes Match? I believe iTunes uses a private API to stream music, so unfortunately there's not much I can do until I find another way. In the meantime, I should probably hide non-local iTunes tracks.

If you understand the games it's about. I have no idea what the rules of baseball are, how you win, how you lose, etc. (I'm French) and found the whole baseball paragraph hard to understand.

In the end it seems to mean that you can lose trying, or lose not even trying -- but if one's not trying why are they even in the field?

IMHO such posts should be more informative: what was the original plan to make money, what was tried, what failed and why; who were supposed to be the paying customers: users, carriers, phone makers, app developers or...?

And what were the operating costs? Wouldn't it have been possible to keep it running "on the side"?

As such it's a sad story that makes us sad; but we'd like to learn more.


Same here - I like both actually. If you foul out in basketball it indicates that you were playing a hard, scrappy game, so again, not too far from the world of startups. The baseball interpretation has the added implication that instead of "hitting a home run" or even a "single" or a "double", you got things off the ground but didn't get past that.

And, given you haven't had a recorded out but instead just failed to find the success needed to get on base, perhaps you just kept fouling the ball off until you got tired and decided to retire :)

I find myself emailing news stories to the same email group over and over, but unable to find a history of what we talked about.


We launched a feature like this last year; we called it Tweet to Download (demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIngL60r3_M).

At first it did seem like spamming, but I am at peace with it now. It is analogous to the FB Like button. You should only tweet out stuff that you like, and want to share and download.

The key is to give a sample of the product (in our case song clip) before broadcasting to your social network. I think we could even allow full song stream, and still see similar download/tweet numbers.

In a world where musicians don't get real currency, they are asking for your social currency.
