Slow traffic is absolutely fine, if you can actually identify it as slow traffic.

Just by looking at tractors, cyclists and pedestrians you know they are not going very fast, but a car going 20mph where the limit is 50mph is insanely dangerous because your brain instinctually thinks the car is going about as fast as you are and you have to get quite close to pickup the speed difference.

Here in Denmark you can get a fine for going too slow, it's called being an unnecessary nuisance.

Sorry, a car can go slow for many good reasons not visible to the following traffic (and be it only, that something in front of that car is slow, but you cannot see it). You have to be prepared to that. A car can even be entirely stopped and you should be able to stop without hitting it. Failing to do so is entirely the fault of the following traffic.

It is an entirely different matter, that one isn't allowed to drive unnecessarily slow to not block the following traffic. This is about the traffic flow, not of safety.

If it took 12 hours to get pointed out, it's probably not a well known fact.

While in absolute terms rim brakes are probably just as good as disc brakes. The difference lies in the feeling and modulation of the forces.

Also, the disc is a consumable on both types. I have worn down rims to the point where I was scared to use the wheels.

The initial setup can be a bit annoying with hydro discs, but it's a tradeoff I'm happy with.

Looking at the stakeholders section at the bottom, this looks like the typical academia project that is, currently at least, far removed from the real world.

For daily clothes, sure. For sports clothing, synthetics all the way. There is no worse pain in the world than sweaty chafing cotton.

The last half is basically his own opinions stated as truth from God, which, to me, makes him look like a complete tool. Personally I'm not a fan of parens around the conditional in ifs, but I don't go around spouting that it is the only true way.

It basically makes me write off the first half, even if it is correct (I'm not a linux dev, so I don't know).

Added: From the reply on lkml I'm not the only one.

It's a style that has been recognized as humorous for decades before the corporate CoC-wielding bureaucrats moved in. Much more refreshing than passive aggressive replies like this one:

I think Rust is not a culture fit for the Linux kernel and its adoption will further undermine Linux.

Humorous? I don't think how anyone could think stuff like "I cannot view with less or vim. Therefore it looks not at all." as even remotely funny.

Sounds just like "neckbeard yells at cloud" style to justify that the world does not do exactly what he wants.

We'll just grant them independence, then it's not our problem anymore. They're always bitching about not being a sovereign state anyway.

On a more serious note, why would we need a bigger navy? Is Russia going to invade because Greenland won't let some corporations mine? Or is it the corporations themselves that will? Also; NATO, baby...

"Too many people want your natural resources" would be a unique reason to grant a territory more sovereignty.

It would, but it would not be entirely implausible in this case. Greenland has self-rule on internal matters, but foreign policy and defence costs Denmark money. It implicitly accepted Greenland is headed for eventual independence, but it needs to be economically viable first. If Greenland turns down revenue from mining and in doing so drives up defence costs for Denmark, it's not inconceivable some people will decide they can't have it both ways.

That said, I don't think it's likely.

I'd be more worried about USA than Russia, is more of a tradition on the USA to invade or arrange puppet governments for the profit of the corporations that pay/buy the political campaigns.

Here in Denmark fines for drunk driving, driving while influenced by drugs, and driving while your license is suspended is income dependent. The exact fine is also dependent on your blood toxicity levels. And if you are under 18 or have a low income you can get half off the fine.

My understanding is that if you use Google SSO from xyz.com Google can track you only there and not abc.com. So the partition is only lifted for a single domain.

Ars has an excellent article about the paper: https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/02/study-blames-earths-...

Much better read, thank you.
