It is work work not passive, but I write dev docs for $80/h. But it is simple work, you just go research and write. No Racoon calling out to Wingman to get user info provider services.
I write documentation for a living (a different, non-tech kind). The best resources in my opinion are the writing guides of various governments. Gov.uk leads the way, but the Australian government puts out great guides too.
Steve Krug's "Don't make me think" is old but still applies to the modern web.
Watched it all. Brilliant maker video. Impressed by the dedication to hours of sanding. Worried he would saw off his fingers trimming the FDD :-o. Keyboard is particularly impressive as is using off the shelf parts for IO and getting the 3d printed case to fit them perfectly. Floppy ejection using steping motor is a fun touch. Love it. Also all the tight tolerences!
I am looking into making a product for fun 3d printing, rpi etc but it'll be 1% of the sophistication of this.
You can also put JPEG binary data in RSS feeds, send a string of emojis for an SSL handshake and stick HTML 1.0 directly in a docker image. You can do those things. You can even write tools that accept those things.
This is not systems thinking though. It take a lot of will for parents to fight kids desire for junk food from social pressure alone. Should parents be perfect citizens that make 10000 correct micro decisions a month correctly every time? Or can society help a bit by blocking some of the predators?
It is like "just say no". Thay'll do it for drug addicition. Simple.
We have no idea how/where it'd end up (with). If I understand anything about regulations (which is doubtful of course), the advertisers, themselves, would be on the hook.
