This is very disappointing. People look upto Apple for standing up for what is right (the FBI incident) but then it is hard to ignore all the other ones (Gold plaque for Trump Government, Chinese shenanigans ..)
For me it's surprising that they expected anything other than heavy utilisation at that price point. People don't subscribe at those prices and forget about it.
Perhaps. So let them come clean about what they can offer. At that price, people are going to make the best of their subscription whatever it is that's on offer.
I feel icky replying in favor of a for-profit entity, but here goes ..
> We are paying for a certain amount of token consumption
I dont think you are. The specific arrangement you have is you pay for a subscription to be used with Claude Code. It isnt access to tokens, so you can do whatever you please.

An analogy would be a refillable cup for a soda at a restuarnt. They will allow you to refill how many ever times you want, but only using the store provided cup - and you cant bring your own 2L hydroflask or whatever. You're paying not just for the liquid, but for the entire setup.
Both GP's and your example in effect mean "I'm fine with other people doing this, but I don't want to have anything to do with it, or at least be able to decide case-by-case."
Which is a valid stance IMO.
In the OP, a vibecoded UI when the whole project emphasizes "I did this myself, from scratch" is a bit awkward.
Does "I did this myself" mean they read all the relevant specs and then wrote the code - or did they just write the prompts themselves?
Edit: OP already answered and confirmed that they in fact did write the code themselves.
Apple's positioning of 'privacy' and 'data blindedness' was always opportunistic.
Apple never ever believed that. Even their positioning of 'standing up to the government/FBI' is super hypocritical as well. When going became tough, Tim Cook personally went to the White House to gift a gold plaque (puke).
So much for looking out for the little guy.
I'm 100% convinced that Apple has a backdoor in China. Why else would Chinese government allow Apple to operate there?
Google, love them or hate them, picked up their business and exited. I admire them for that. The day Apple truly does follow through, I'll respect them.
This doesn't match up with what I've heard from people I know within Apple, but perhaps things have changed recently. Certainly the encrapification seems to have gotten worse - my suspicion is that the services businesses have too much power within the company and are damaging product design to boost their own numbers.
There's an excellent Ben Thompson piece where he points out one of the big missteps of Apple executives. He was talking about Tim Cook and the like in the context of App Store legal case. He says Apple started drinking their own kool-aid around privacy, and user benefit - which makes them want to seek rent a lot more. I suspect your friends at Apple might be falling onto that as well.
This will be like saying - there are good people working at Nestle. The packaged water business is the villian, but people are nice.
