This is hilarious. The Devil's been urging me to buy one of high-end ones for the past year -- I specifically clicked on this post hoping to see someone regretting buying one of these things so I could use it as fuel against my utopian fantasies.

I asked in response to another comment[0] above somewhere but do you have any recommendations for more recent producers/djs on the ragga jungle sound?

I'm looking for the more Ragga heavy melodic dirty sounding jungle a la Krinjah's Return or Hold Yuh remix. Any new people on that sound?

I don't track it, but that's good stuff

Unless my memory is completely off, I don't recall Polymarket giving "Trump will win" vibes in the general lead up to the election. When they did, it was probably in the last few days.

If that's the case, I would've expected to the statement to be something like, "From our understanding, our only crime is to have presented an analysis that the outgoing administration also understood to be valid."

You should write a book about how a society composed entirely of pure-bred mercenaries outlasted all other competing civilizations on the planet. I'd be very interested in reading it.

It's official. There are some perks that are better in relatively "shithole" countries than in Elysium. In that universe, they put allowance money on your food card that is mostly accepted by certain restaurants. But there are a few supermarkets that accept it as well and you're completely free to use the card "wherever it's accepted".

This facebook example by contrast is hilarious bean counting partnering with moronic principles.

And where is the quote from the person that bought toothpaste at the request of a homeless person? I'd like to be in the HR office for that conversation.

> governments are still vastly less competent than multinational corporations.

Speaking of competence devoid of context misses the point. They are resembling each other greatly in the sense of misaligned incentives with their "users", which supersedes run-of-the-mill competence in terms of importance in this context. I'm not going to give points to some moron who is swimming competently in the wrong direction.

> MNCs also don't force you to pay taxes or buy their products.

An oddly naive comment given all that has been written about how Amazon operates, to give one example.

>Sept 26: WP Engine is banned from Wordpress.org [6] breaking plugin updates from WP Engine

Also someone who is late to the party, but the "breaking plugin updates from WP Engine" wording confuses me. From the wording in [6] it seems like WP Engine was using plugins hosted by wordpress.org, which all broke when wordpress.org blocked WP Engine's access to those plugins. Did I get that right?

Yeah... I did this in a hurry (about 15min) before work, and HN doesn't allow me to edit so let me rectify:

WP Engine is banned from accessing Wordpress.org assets, this way all WP Engine clients were unable to get updates for their plugins, posing a considerable security risk. WP Engine is working on a solution for their users, I don't know right now if this is solved.

This one irks me, it should be something done in phases, not just blocking the access overnight. Lots of websites are getting attacked in this crossfire, really irresponsible move.

Where's the citation for the Crypto PACs winning 86% of 42 primaries they funded coming from? Can't seem to find it.

Well, if one party or another thinks the way the current pieces are lying on the board are advantageous to them, I would think it's a reason for them not to fix Congress.

Both parties are disincentivized to actually fix the problem because when unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch make all the rules then nobody is actually held accountable. Then senators and congressmen from both isles get to chain themselves to the fence and viscously bark at the other side with partisan vitrol to drum up support while getting nothing done.
