Yes, how did Lula pull Brazil out their economic mess?

From das wiki: During his two terms in office, he undertook reforms which eventually led to growth in GDP, reduction in public debt and inflation, and helping 20 million Brazilians escape poverty.

He is the most popular politician in Brazil and one of the most popular in the world. He didn’t get there by corruption.

His first term coincided with the commodity boom triggered by demand from a rising China. The growth was primarily down to luck.

Growth yes, the systemic changes to share that growth among the populace, no. That was his legacy.

Bolsonaro had a commodity boom and transferred wealth to the Brazilian rich. Fernando Henrique Cardoso also had a commodity boom.

Lula uses the commodity boom to enrich all population. A non radical international politic also helps. Bolsonaro fought with Chine, our main commercial partner

Nonsense, a complete fanfic. Growth in GDP in his first mandates was due to an historical commodities boom that surpassed his government disastrous policies and widespread corruption. Debt increased. He was imprisoned due to corruption.

Lula is extremely unpopular and barely got elected despite massive support from media and political establishment. You are in a leftist information bubble. Try asking randoms on the street what they think of Lula.

First: stopped the radical external politics of Bolsonaro. In the few weeks of his government China suspended import restrictions of Brazilian products.

Started a responsible fiscal policy, all ratings agencies improved the country grade.

Are we really currently living in a world saturated with truth?

I’ve had the automatic breaking in my Jeep take effect needlessly, which can be quite jarring

My Kia has AEB, Lane Keeping, and Adaptive Cruise Control. They have false positive type events from time to time, but generally you just know when it's going to happen. The first couple of times it was a shock, but I've never had it trigger in such a way that I felt like it would cause an accident. That being said, you can't just leave it un attended. You're still the PiC of the vehicle.

I’ve sort of adopted the mindset that money comes and goes and we should spend it on things if we reckon we will get enough value out of it. Now, I’m having a daughter soon and feel a bit immature about it all despite earning a decent salary, but I can’t help not wanting to feel like a slave to money especially knowing how many people with far less get by just fine.

> and we should spend it on things if we reckon we will get enough value out of it

This is totally true, but I think you just need to broaden what you mean by getting value out of money. Money saved provides safety, time, and options.

Money saved is just money to be spent in the future.

> but I can’t help not wanting to feel like a slave to money

Once you're in a regular pattern, you're not. I have regular things that go out, a budget under my income and don't need to check on things all the time. Not spending everything I have makes me less tied to income and outgoings.

It favors the collective rather than the individuals right to personal property, it’s not an odd view.

I was able to find the sweet spot for me with pnpm and turborepo.

I quit my job to work by myself full time on an application development platform that I plan on using to roll out several developer/founder applications and services with. Eventually, I plan o building a no-code solution around and on top of the libraries and infrastructure I’ve been building. Also, will use it to relaunch my budgeting application @ budgetbloom.com

I’ve really enjoyed my Super 73. Good range, speed and really fun to ride. Recently I turned it on and the battery started smoking and from all appearances was about to explode. Thankfully it didn’t. And although it took awhile to get the line of communications straight, they are replacing the entire bike and shipping should only take a week or so.

I really wonder about the whole battery thing and if it's somehow deterministic. Has there been any mechanical shock, deep discharge or unusual temperature exposure? FWIW, there are special battery bags.

I worked at Nike and we had the same thing occur. Basically change any and all references of Taiwan to “Taiwan - A province of China” or they threatened to shut down Nike.com in China. Everything else stopped until we made the change. I thought it was weird and showed how much influence China had over even a huge American company and brand. I quit three months ago, have vowed that I will never work for a corporation that chooses greed over people again.

If you've ever been to a municipal court for a traffic ticket (I've noticed this even in smaller town of the US) you'll find a courtroom packed full of people (more than not lower income folks) and a judge who rattles off fines like an auctioneer ($50... $130 for you... $90... $250...). It's clearly a huge money maker for the local government.
