Losing weight is not as impossible a mission as the author makes out. Plenty of people on /r/loseit who have lost significant weight. All reduced calories and almost all used myfitnesspal to track them.

do you know the long term success rate though? I've lost over 50 pounds and kept it off for a couple of years, but my body eventually went back to it's normal weight.

Counting calories and exercise isn't something you stop doing once you reach your healthy weight.

Also, calling your overweight self normal weight is probably a bad mentality for long term weight loss goals.

A big life event can be used to great effect (and for giving up smoking). Once you get through it (and it's never quite as hard as you fear), you demonstrate to yourself that nothing can stop you.

so is this how Roko's Basilisk will find you?

how about ASEAN then?

doesn't work w uBlock

Governments and companies are very much on the same team these days (think of it as a one party state with occasional internal disagreements and manouverings) - so there won't be anything 'mischievous' going on from those quarters

London, Berlin, and Nordics are very strong for European startups. A lot of stuff starting to happen in Asia too (e.g. Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok)

> to be efficient, pair programming has to produce more correct code... how can you not assume they'd be able to create more code with a keyboard and no interruptions

I measure efficiency by less code not more

>I measure efficiency by less code not more

Really? So if I produce no code at all or just delete code, I'm being the most efficient, even if the goal is to add new features?

If you're going to pick on semantics, you shouldn't do it with a statement that's blatantly false on the face of it.

By "correct code" I mean code that is:

* Properly designed, refactored if necessary

* DRY

* Robust

You can't add features to "correct code" while strictly removing line count. No one is just counting lines of code here; your point is specious.
