I wholeheartedly disagree with this take. there's nuance obviously and takehome coding challenges can be done horribly but when done right and assessed properly, they are a wonderful tool for hiring.
Oh I’m aware, they just don’t need to exist. I wear both men’s and women’s shirts, and dresses and pants and skirts and whatever I want and they all fit me just fine. That’s the point I’m trying to make, it’s a false binary
I've done this and we have someone currently out on leave (both of us founders). We do 2 weeks of radio silence, 1 week working half time remote, 1 week of full time remote, then back in the office. The two weeks is tough but we've been able to spread the workload to other members of the team.
