It seems like Anthropic is constantly changing the rules and pulling out rugs, and always entirely by surprise. I’m not sure if they’re incompetent or just careless, but I stopped paying them because of this a while ago, and my days are much more interesting and enjoyable using my own brain instead.
As long as they keep losing money and are reliant on investments to pay their operating expenses, they are going to be thrashing about in search of a sustainable business model and I don't blame them.
Enshittification strikes again. For a normal user, the software seems to be getting worse and more cumbersome, and the company seems to continue focusing solely on pushing business- and enterprise-centric features that I have no use for. They'd do well to offer a non-pro type subscription for users who don't want all of that. Instead, though, I and a lot of others will simply be canceling.
I’ve been using it for 18 years. It’s significantly worse than it used to be in terms of basic reliability. I was already debating a move, but didn’t really want to. This price hike, in the context of all the investors they took on, just seals the deal.
AirPods also drop audio quality severely when their mic is active, just as with Bluetooth. Apple hasn’t solved that in any way with some nefarious extension.
Being able to communicate clearly with high signal-to-noise is essential. When hiring, I’ve learned it’s often better to take a great communicator with less experience over a poor communicator with great experience.
Cover letters can be a helpful filter for this. In my experience a pithy cover letter is better than no cover letter. But no cover letter is better than a bull shit one.
You can bet that if I smell diarrhea of the chatgpt in a cover letter, it’ll get a fast pass to the bottom of the heap if not a direct route to the reject pile.
