Fun fact: if you're on mobile the site will use your accelerometer to let you pour water out of the teapot!

I don't know about WSLg specifically but last time I heard if you runs a x server with an application like VcXsrv, install XFCE and configure it to use the x server. You can pretty much run XFCE or any other desktop environment in WSL. I don't know about the performance however.

Locast wouldn't let you watch over 15 mins before interrupting you to donate. Then you would need to exit out and join the channel back. To remove this you had to donate around $5/mo AFAIK when I used it last time. So it wasn't really "non-profit"

Non-profit just means they don't make a profit. Not free. I imagine serving a bunch of video over the net is not free.

Well, the judges ruling says the opposite.

Oddly enough, yesterday Locast thought removing this interruption was good enough for them to ride out this storm.

Then today they shut down. I'd be curious to know what changed in 24 hours.

Perhaps their accountants saw how much of their budget was eaten up by bandwidth costs and concluded they couldn't stay afloat without donations.

Probably my favorite one on there.

> YouTube will pay you as soon as you make something like $20 iirc.

Isn't it $100?

On Twitch it's also $100.

Used to be lower.

When? This was the level I failed to meet for AdWords when I had a blog around 2007. What Google or other companies were doing in 2005 is so long ago that it’s hardly relevant.

Not for youtube. I made a video and got stuck at $85 or so which has been sitting there. And the gate to get any ad revenue at all has been raised so I'd have to get pretty serious to get the hours watched to earn the remaining $15

In California (I assume other states have similar) the trick is to wait long enough such that it becomes unclaimed property. At that point, Google will surrender your 85 dollars to the state government and you can fill out some paperwork to collect it.

Source: happened to me via a Minecraft channel I used to run over a decade ago and essentially abandoned around 2013.

The OpenSSH they were using was from 2014/2015 so they probably didn't update the OS or anything at all for a while

Man this year is flying, I still think it's 2020.

Honestly, I've been guilty of treating much of the last year as a loading screen. At times I've been hyper-focussed on doing that lovely personal development we're all supposed to do when cooped up alone at home, and at others just pissing around making cocktails and talking shite with my friends over social media.

So basically what I'm saying is - "same" :D

There were multiple episodes that I remember watching as a child (In fact, I think I have seen all the episodes except the recent ones in the last 3-4 years). The one where they make a movie due to the new "James Hound" movie is rated PG-13, the Christmas movie about uncle frank, the Mr Rogers episode where he comes and stay in Arthur house(there was another episode like this except Arthur's teacher Mr.Ratburn) and so much others. However, one thing that was stuck in my head ever since I saw it was an episode where Muffy was watching a Backstreet Boys music video and Francine calls them a sellout. So she makes a band and calls it "U stink." Then they play in a front of a crowd and the Backstreet Boys themselves come[0]. That episode and the ones where they have different animation like South Park and beavis and butthead were the ones that stuck with me as a kid. But I have to admit how long this aired, I thought it would end in 2015, but apparently they kept making new episodes.

I would buy a pinephone at the moment but the performance is just not that much compared to Android phones. It's not good for a daily phone to use at the moment. Until then, I'll stick with my OnePlus 7 Pro until there's a linux phone with good performance, even if it costs more.

If you are interested in postmarketOS linux, I think there are some faster phones that have been bootstrapped: http://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Devices

There are a few Snapdragon 845 phones (PocoPhone F1, OnePlus 6(T) that are getting closer and to fully working with postmarketOS and/or Mobian. Maybe that’s something to look out for, currently IIRC the OnePlus 6 is the closest.
