The About section of the repo literally says "A private, p2p alternative to Slack and Discord built on Tor & IPFS ".

So the dev(s) are indeed claiming it's an alternative to both Slack and Discord.

We used a self-hosted version of RocketChat at my previous employer's.

https://www.rocket.chat/

This looks really good. I will try self hosting this!

It's happening on Libreddit too. Been getting the "Too Many Requests" error for the past couple of days. But a quick refresh fixes it for me.

Sadly the quick refresh is no longer working for me, and going through all of the instances on Libredirect, they all seem to be constantly down now.

It appears that they are trying to deal with this issue here:

https://github.com/libreddit/libreddit/issues/836

Yep. I can no longer access Libreddit from any instance. But teddit[0] still seems to be working.

Lemmy? One of the devs of Lemmy posted this on Christian's thread on Reddit.

Thank you.

Last time I checked Lemmy, it was just full of communist propaganda.

Which instance did you check? There's more than one as far as I know.

The official instance https://lemmy.ml/ as well as its apparently favorite other instance Lemmygrad.

lemmy.ml seems more tech-related than anything.

Lemmygrad is a server for Marxists. They say so on the topmost post when you open the website (https://lemmygrad.ml/post/668436).

It took me about half a minute after opening lemmy.ml to find a comment glorifying communism: https://lemmy.ml/comment/435767

Of course Lemmygrad is for marxists. That's my point.

>We like Stalin and we uphold the DPRK’s sovereignty and legitimacy over the whole of Korea

Jesus christ. Actual tankies.

That is going to be a factor in getting people to migrate. Convenience matters more than outrage. Lemmy's decentralization makes it a bother for most people. If they can't get instant gratification, they'll just go back to reddit.

So is Reddit. And also neolib propaganda, capitalist propaganda, libsoc propaganda, ... should I go on?

Also, it's federated. You don't have to get even close to a server with the kind of propaganda you dislike the most and just keep to your favourite propaganda bubble.

You can also just run your own server and forbid the "wrong" kind of propaganda, whilst allowing the "right" kind.

> communist propaganda

That's the reason I want to find a Reddit alternative...

As someone who is struggling with procrastination, I'd love to know more about how it works and how it helped you overcome the bad habits.

I understand, it's basically a wrapper around PiHole, which is a DNS server. This wrapper does several things, such as monitor dns log, change site destination, and monitors my devices and enforces itself as DNS server (thorough SSH)

Project is here https://github.com/richard-hajek/environment-overseer/tree/b... the code quality is not amazing but it works haha

Thank you for sharing this. Although I have a similar setup with NextDNS and ActivityWatch, it does not give me the same level flexibility like your project does. I'll be sure to check it out when I switch to PiHole.

> Google is doing this to stand in support against violent acts that have targeted the Asian community, and COVID-related business closures over the last couple of years.

Doesn't labelling businesses as Asian-owned make it easier for the attackers to target them in the future?

If you look at FBI data it’s not a widespread problem. But I guess instilling fear and then offering comfort sells. I see the “stop hate” in places where there is the least likelihood people would be attacked, you know richer suburban areas with very little crime…

My guess is that the people randomly beating up Asians aren't doing a whole lotta research beforehand? Opportunistic, not strategized.

I could be wrong though! Anybody else have actual intel on this? I'm just going off the chatter on /r/sanfrancisco and /r/bayarea.

Burglars, on the other hand, are known to do their research while picking their targets. They use chalks to draw symbols to mark houses that are easy to break into (eg symbols to mark the owner is elderly, woman, nobody at day time etc)

It will also slow down a lot of websites and cause them to stutter and drop frames. This behaviour is the most evident on Netflix.

I tried this and it made me more productive than using a laptop from work.

I built a PC during the pandemic for work and gaming. It runs OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and Windows 10 (the latter purely for gaming but I'm looking to ditch it for Proton/Wine on Linux).

I realized how much I prefer working on a desktop after years of using a laptop for work. Not gonna lie, I still like the niceties offered by my Macbook Air M1, namely great battery life and very good performance, so I use it primarily when I am out working remotely.

You can use either SWR[0] or React Query[1] hooks to write a query to fetch data for the first component and whenever you make a post request from the second component, you call the mutation function to revalidate the first component's data and replace it.

I do not support banning things but Zee Media, who owns WION, is known for extortion, spreading fake news and right wing propaganda in India.
