Not the OP, but Stripe disabled verification and payments for new accounts in India. The only way to receive international payments is through an MoR like Lemon Squeezy or Paddle. PayPal should work too but my experience with it is limited.
I visited Tajikistan last summer and spent about three weeks in the country. One week in Khujand (I crossed the border from Uzbekistan) and Dushanbe, and two weeks in the Pamirs.
Just like the author I (from India) travelled with a couple of Europeans, a German girl and a French guy. I very much enjoyed my time there, especially in the Pamirs. I stayed with a local family who hosted me in Khorog. I went hiking, watched Afghan villages from across the border, and also worked remotely.
> Is it mainly to avoid being identified as torrenting by authorities? So if i live in a torrent friendly country it doesn't matter?
It's not just that. Streaming from an proper server always beats streaming from P2P connections. The former is much faster to stream, forward, and rewind, making the whole streaming experience better. Especially when watching 4K content or old movies with relatively less number of seeders.
> That's still YIFY-quality video, which is a few steps below HBO/MAX, which happens to be among the lowest quality paid streams.
You don't necessarily have to pick YIFY.
Qxr's uploads are a much better comparison. x265 encoded 1080p (with 5 - 6.5Mbps bitrate) from the highest quality sources and they look very good even on 55" 4K panels.
Not the original poster, but I visited Almaty and Shymkent in Kazakhstan this summer. I met a lot of nice and warm Kazakh people. Would love to visit Almaty again and explore other parts of the country this time.
Google Messages app sends a lot of spam here in India if RCS is enabled. I confirmed this with some of friends who experienced the same thing.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has an app called DND which lets you register your phone number to opt out of marketing and promotional SMSes. It works really well and in case someone sends you a promotional SMS despite opting out, you can report them to your SIM provider (or carrier) and they are legally required to take an action.
But as soon as RCS is enabled, you will magically start receiving a lot of spam messages with rich text and link previews. Unfortunately, the DND app cannot see or detect those messages which means you cannot report them.
