The 8-K text gets run through an LLM to extract the structured fields. It handles the variation in format pretty well. For amendments, the system picks up the amended filing and updates the record — the comp figures sometimes only appear in the amendment.

Honestly Walmart has gotten so much better at competing versus a couple of years ago. Most items reach my door within 2-3 days (in nyc), and their customer service is now on par with amazon prime, which is to say, amazon has gotten much worse. I did not mind paying for the convenience of a "dont ask, dont tell" return policy, however, amazon has gotten more strict. If i wanted that, i would rather stick to traditional retailers.

Its been said time and time again but its being able to get things done, and at a minimum being able to google the right thing. It gets harder from there, but at least thats a start.

The one thing where smaller companies can excel is shipping a viable product. Most people I know are willing to give smaller companies a break on a polished product if they know they will see updates in a timely manner. This is something smaller companies can outmatch their larger competitors and will also get them more loyalty from their users.

Shipping a viable product, with timely, dependable updates is crucial.
