Did they added monetization strategies into this app (ads, sponsored stories, etc)? I'm not an iOS user, but after their harsh stock decline I would've expected to see aggressive monetization on the mobile app/web.

Facebook are making currently making $183M a year off mobile & they haven't rolled them out worldwide yet either.

They were appearing for me in the old iOS app & are only be shown every 150 or so (at the moment in the tests they are performing) which has been confirmed by Facebook's CFO David Ebersman who said Facebook are "being very careful about the volume of sponsored stories in the news feed because it’s so core to the user experience."

Obviously, Wikipedia is an extremely useful educational resource, and I think it's even more powerful in developing countries, which usually lack of academic materials. Making changes that rise the technological barrier of entry for many users doesn't seem adequate to me.

Most 'naive' consumers probably won't even try to solve the issue with bloatware. For many of them Windows implies having to deal with bloatware-full, cheap laptops.

Which makes you wonder, would windows' image be better off if they implemented some sort of quality control on what is distributed?

In the end when some bloatware crashes or slows the pc down, people blame windows.

I know that that's windows' business model, but makes you think how much they would benefit from having a rock solid image.

Just look at windows 7 for instance. It is a rock solid OS but that doesn't seem to have done a lot for microsoft's image. (Or maybe it has? Links welcome.)

It's my understanding that PCs purchased in the Microsoft Store do not have any additional "bloatware" installed (all they have is base OS, Drivers, Live Essentials, and Security Essentials).

They have the signature collection, but it isn't mandatory, and they don't advertise it enough.

I'm smelling OS X now.

Finally, an alternative to GMail. The only problem is hundreds of different one-time use websites that are registered to that email and send a ton of "spammy" mails.
