I started writing blog 5-6 years ago. Initially, there was no tracktion. With time, as the content grew and a few of my posts got attention on HN and StackOverflow; I started getting requests from companies to work for them. A few of them were small gigs but I have been working with 2 companies as a freelancer since last 6 years.
A few of the posts were research based and therefore they wanted to know more about my insight. A few of them were tutorials and they wanted me to build something for them. Hope this helps. If you have any other question, send me an email. (in profile)
I've been using Ghost ever since I switched my blog from WordPress. I've been pretty happy with it and their editing experience is great. I host it on Digital Ocean.
Initially, we were also in favor of going with Ant.design. Everyone has different requirements but being able to provide customization was our important criterion to select a lib.
Hot topic nowadays. I have also given it a lot of thought but couldn't come to any conclusion.
It's true, living in SF/NYC and India, you will have a significant difference in monthly expenditures. But does it make sense to pay differently to persons who bring the same value to the company just because they are living in different locations?
IMO if you are a fully remote company, it shouldn't make any difference. People can choose to work from wherever they are and should get paid equally.
If you have an office and hire a remote worker, it would make sense if you are paying lower to remote workers working from countries with lower wages.
Yeah, I had GitLab on my mind when I wrote my comment. I do think it's unfair for a fully remote company but they have their reasons.
Its unfortunate developers with the same skill set can have a massive gap in salary because they live in different locations even though they bring same value to the company.
The value of most of these stocks has decreased while the price has gone up. What we're witnessing is inflation. Any currency that adds trillions of new units overnight will be worth less per unit the next day. If a dollar is worth less, it takes more of them to buy something, making it appear as though stocks are going up. In reality, the price of everything is about to go up, with the exception of wages due to historic unemployment.
> shows the Economy has nothing or very little to do with the stock market.
I disagree. Stock ownership is not universal and fiscal stimulus and unlimited QE, low intrest rates is very good for people who own majorority of stock shares.
If you have access to credit and some political clout you can expect getting richer with no effort over next few years.
