You were developing a new language? Javascript is great because you can see the results in a browser. I'm a bit torn because java is easier for developing this kind of data intensive thing.
This works on just a single machine for now. I imagine it would be relatively easy to distribute. One could simply clone a bunch of applications. Then creatures from cloned grids could be swapped, or grids could be placed adjacently to determine who the winners are...
Hey guys, I made this, I would be happy to tell you more about it. The idea is pretty simple, static 2x2 blocks are replaced by another shape that creates a lot of growth. That replacement is treated like the birth of a new organism. The goal of the organism is to produce more 2x2 blocks. It can have slight mutations that make it faster to produce these blocks. What's interesting about this is that rather than having reproduction be a given, an organism spends it's whole life building a structure that lets it reproduce. It can collide with other organisms and disrupt them. It's simple, but it's open ended and is fast to compute.
Banksy is just the remainder of an unbalanced equation in the matrix. Marketing has triumphed over Art. The rebel artist is an anomaly, but it is not unexpected. Which has led you, inexorably, here.
We really did try to make it not-spammy. You have an option to tweet when you list a domain name that you own. Or you can comment on other people's domains using twitter. Also we're expecting most of our traffic to come from twitter, so they will know exactly what's getting tweeted.
We are not a domain marketing service. We are a social game that lets people get a little more insight into their friends and colleagues from the internet community by seeing which domains they've registered.
We do have a line which shows what you're going to tweet and let's you uncheck the box so you don't post to twitter. Perhaps this should be off by default, but we are erring on the side of making the app viral first.
Think of it like "texts from last night" for domain names. Our friends have great domain names like beerify.me, nerdharder.net, and unfriend.ly. We let you share the projects you were passionate about to get a domain for, but didn't end up doing anything with. This way you can at least get credit for being clever, and maybe even find a
collaborator.
This is true, Alex. there are in fact many, many more things Rocket Lease does not do that would be very valuable. These include, but are not limited to:
- Curing cancer
- Making solar power economically viable
- Better public transportation systems
- Improving public education
- Picking up my dry cleaning
=)
That probably seems aggressive but its not intended to be. From my standpoint those are just all businesses I don't do (well, except for picking up my dry cleaning, I do that. But Rocket Lease will not pick up your dry cleaning)
