love how it claims that "it's freaking fast", yet has no performance metrics on the page. granted they might be hidden behind a link a or two, but i'm going hunting for something when you should have it right there on the page to back up your claims.

Let's remember that while actix web rank very high in techempower up, most of it's performance lead come because of it's async connection with postgres. Other languages will catch up in this regards in a few years (e.g loom for Spring)

this is where rubymine really shines, you can right click and select "goto definition" which takes you right to the class that defines the method.

In other editors either Solargraph (via LSP) or even just exuberant ctags will give you the same facility.

Rubymine really is a fanatastic IDE.

laravel is so similar to rails, it's scary. tbh... all mvc frameworks are similar. once you know one, it's extremely easy to pick up another one even if you don't know the language.

jesus... that article sounded like a child crying cause they didn't get their way.

i'll go even further... the other thing about it is that the owner has to have the money is order to bring the lawsuit to court. also, depending on how backed up the courts are, it could be years before the case brought into court by which time the owner could be out of business.

it really is horrible how screwed up our civil court system is.

Are the courts "backed up", or is the process of discovery and everything else leading up to a trial/judgement just a necessarily long one?

the point i was trying to make is that it for any reason, the case can be delayed in getting to court. i've personally seen cases take 10 years to finally get to court only to have the case dismissed.

this was inevitable giving the climate switch to streaming services. right now the riaa wants to protect the streaming services at all costs since physical media consumption is decreasing, especially with all the store fronts closing cause of the pandemic.

This is a good point; If you're a contrarian (or in my case dinosaur) go back to physical media and back up your own copy for personal use. Our library still brings in physical copies of everything in various formats, which is good because the electronic borrowing rules imposed on libraries are ridiculous.

And buy what you can used - you get the physical copy and the RIAA/MPAA gets nothing.

this is such a gimmick.

the earth can heal itself if we stop polluting it. removal isn't the answer we have to stop producing it.

> the earth can heal itself if we stop polluting it

Nope, we're currently moving gigatons of carbon from the geosphere to the atmosphere and a significant amount of that carbon will remain for tens of thousands of years. If we miraculously stop emitting tomorrow, we wont have fixed the problem, we would just stop it from getting worse. Source: https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2010/12/common-climate-mi...

If we want to return the climate to pre-industrial, we need aggressive emissions cuts to net zero AND massive carbon removal later this century.

stop gaslighting

Sorry, what?

you know that whole, "never put all your eggs in one basket" saying... that's exactly what this dude did and he got burned.

while the situation sucks and amazon is a jerk for allowing this to happen... i don't feel bad for him. any business man knows not to do this, it's rule one in everything you do. it places you in the position where you aren't in charge meaning you don't have the upper hand. hard lesson for this dude to learn, but hopefully it prevents others from making the same mistake.

The issue has Amazon has taken over most of the ecommerce market. And it doesn't even make sense anymore for many to have their own ecommerce website. They are swallowing everything, except for recognizable brands. That's why brand recognition is so important even if you're small. pol But yes, Amazon "efficiency" and policies mostly favourable to the buyer killed the majority of the competition. They are even killing Ebay.

get out from behind the keyboard and go the f*ck outside and explore the world for the next 3 weeks. seriously... there is more to life than programming the next great thing and 3 weeks is a long time in this life. you might find your soul mate in the next 3 week.

here are some ideas to start:

http://www.weirdus.com/

https://www.geocaching.com/play

1) I'm pretty happy with what I have on the soulmate finding side haha 2) covid still being a thing, I can't really go out right now!

yes you can... which is why i gave you links to a couple of sites for activities you can do outside without involving groups. you can do geocaching or weird exploring with just you and your partner. wear a mask, bring some hand-sanitizer (especially if you're geocaching), bug repellant (again... especially if you're geocaching) and enjoy the out doors.

Mmmm I'm not in the US. I'm literally not allowed to go out.

But thanks anyway!

:( that sucks dude

You can't get in a car and drive to some wilderness within a few hours?

Nah, not allowed

I've heard about this in places like Ireland. Complete hysteria.
