There is a lot of discussion about logo trends, and the LogoLounge Trends reports over the years. It's all driven by the logos from designers, and we're currently in the last few hours of the call for entries for the latest book, LogoLounge Book 11.

What is the difference between republic style and democratic style voting?

(Representative) Republics use hierarchical voting: citizens elect representatives, representatives vote on issues and elect representatives from their own pool for higher bodies. Democracies give one vote to every citizen on all issues. Examples are Washington (the state) voter initiative system and Senatorial elections post-1913 (they were originally elected by state legislature. see http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/...).

I'm proud that we can debate without physical confrontation; higher-reasoning I guess. Think about it, if all debates where a physical confrontation it wouldn't be the best ideas that would win, but just those who are stronger would win.

Ok... So that's out there a bit. More on the lines of what you're asking, I'm proud that we realise it when we're getting out of hand and actually try to do something to alleviate the issue; philosophies of how to do that asside.
