Joel, are you open to sponsoring H1B visas?

Yes, absolutely! I am a Brit living in San Francisco and my co-founder is Austrian. We know this process well having been through it personally for both of us and several others in the team.

Our philosophy is that we should all have the opportunity to be in the single place on Earth that makes us the happiest and most productive, and we want to encourage you to find that place and help you be there. We have a fantastic immigration lawyer we work with and 100% success rate obtaining visas.

You sound like an amazing CEO :) I really dig the company culture. If Buffer isn't hiring for Summer internships, I suppose hiring for a 16-month internship is out of the question?

Wow, thanks so much. I still have a huge amount to learn :-) Luckily there are a lot of great books out there and mentors around who I can learn from in order to try and become the best CEO I can be.

I think there's a chance a 16 month internship could work, be sure to get in touch :-) If you're self-driven and can add to the team and help us move forward, we'd definitely take a look!

Done and done. Expect a pleasant email from me, Joel :)

put that Google Nose to use!

My android and blackberry had it but I haven't seen that on an iphone. Unfortunately, company phones require locks/passwords so you cant just leave it unlocked.

It's not too hard to set that up that up on an iPhone. Take a screenshot of a note with what ever text you want on the lockscreen or and set that as your lock screen wallpaper.

Also, for as long as there has been an App Store, there have been apps specifically for letting you overlay message over images specifically for this purpose.

To those who are applying for a biz dev role like this: do you honestly expect to get a job where you will be selling for your company (whether it be vision, product, etc.) when you cant even sell yourself to get a job?

Finding a job isnt a game of percentages. Or atleast finding the right job isnt (imho). Find the 2-3 jobs you really want and spend the time to make the recruiter believe you could actually sell for their company one day.

How does FogBugz (http://www.fogcreek.com/fogbugz/) compare to bugherd or lighthouse?

I can't make up my mind what's worse...KSA tracking women or France telling them what they can and can't wear

This is a ludicrous distortion of facts. French law only forbid some kind of dressing. Furthermore, it was done in the name of women's rights and dignity, pretty much the opposite of KSA.

Hint: it's #1. The women of france, as part of the population, voted for what they can't wear (not what they can) as a tiny sacrifice for the greater good. Superficial comparisons are always misleading

Try harder.

I'd love to see Microsoft respond to this!

Ecellent read because it provides an alternate (and ugly) perspective of the often glorified (read techcrunch-ified) world of startups in the Valley.

Shaikh has obviously made some big mistakes but take a minute to feel for the guy. He literally bled for the company to save some money so I can imagine the emotional rollercoaster he must have been on.

Well written piece Inc.

I thought the bleeding part was gratuitous pseudo-symbolism. I cut myself fixing the washing machine the other day, but I would never say "I literally bled for the cause of clean clothes."

Symbolism or not, I think there's no denying the fact that he worked very hard during the early stages. My point is to highlight the fact that in light of his struggles, I can appreciate his frustrations. While the attacks are not justified, I can at least see the path of events that led to this act.

Hi almost,

Original blog post author here. Generally speaking, interview processes have undergone a fraction of the innovation that industry has seen. Hence, After learning about Interviewstreet and checking out all the amazing companies they've partnered with, I got a bit excited but I definitely didn't mean to offend :(

Hi mtogo,

The way I see it, the purpose of Interviewstreet is to provide a platform for skilled hackers to score tremendous opportunities without having to go through pre-screen interviews. A lot of these pre-screen interviews and traditional selection processes are based on check-lists, school grades, etc.

The intention here doesn't appear to be the solving of ridiculous puzzles all day in the hopes of finding a job. In fact, I think the aim is to remove jumping unnecessary hoops and give the hacker a chance to display his technical prowess up front - after all, that's their strongest suit!

This is my understanding of the site, maybe Vivek can shed some light here.
